St Albert’s believe that, working in partnership with our parents, we can contribute significantly to improving the health and well-being of our pupils. We recognise the importance of educating and promoting the importance of healthy living to our children in order that they recognise the importance of healthy choices on a daily basis from a young age. This year we are taking the opportunity to review our provision and participate in the Knowsley Healthy School Award Campaign (see below). All children have the right to be healthy and a healthy body and a healthy mind will help our children to thrive and be able to participate in all the opportunities that come their way.
We will be posting and sharing lots of information on our website to aid parents and their children on their journey to ensuring that they are as healthy as can be. Please take a few minutes to explore and keep visiting for lots of useful information.
Knowsley Healthy School Award
The Knowsley Healthy School awards aim to recognise and encourage schools’ contribution in providing healthy environments for their pupils and staff. It celebrates positive actions that schools are delivering in terms of healthy eating and physical activity and aims to identify next steps to improve their provision.
All children and young people have a right to be healthy. Over recent years this has become increasingly challenging for children and families due to a range of factors. Healthy schools provide a whole school approach which enables pupils to access nutritious food to fuel learning and promotes opportunities for children to be physically active throughout the school day.
Playing a part in improved health for children in Knowsley, reducing health inequalities, increasing social inclusion and raising achievement for all.
By enabling children and young people to make positive changes to their behaviour around health and wellbeing, schools can help them reach their full potential. This will have benefits for the children now and in the future.
Healthy Schools is not just about children and young people, it is about involving the whole school community together with local services and agencies to improve health outcomes for all.
Schools taking part in the voluntary scheme can work towards achieving Bronze, Silver and Gold.
