Personal, Social, Health, and Citizenship Education
At St Albert’s Catholic Primary School, PSHCE is a central part of our commitment to educating the whole child. Rooted in our Catholic ethos and guided by our core values, our PSHCE curriculum supports children to grow emotionally, socially, morally, and spiritually as they journey through school — always walking together with Jesus to love, learn and serve.
Our carefully planned PSHCE programme helps pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to thrive both now and in the future. Through age-appropriate learning, children are supported to understand themselves, build healthy and respectful relationships, manage emotions, stay safe, and play an active role in their community and the wider world. We place strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, inclusion, safeguarding, and British Values, ensuring every child feels valued, heard, and supported.
Relationships and Sex Education is taught through A Journey in Love, which complements our PSHCE curriculum and reflects the teachings of the Catholic Church. This approach promotes dignity, respect, and love, helping children to develop a positive sense of self and an understanding of relationships built on care, trust, and mutual respect. Our PSHCE curriculum is progressive from EYFS to Year 6, inclusive of all pupils, and responsive to the needs of our school community — enabling every child to flourish.
