This week, we are having lots of fun celebrating Shakespeare Week at St Albert’s.
Each class is studying their own play:
Afternoon Nursery – The Tempest
Year 1 – The Tempest
Year 2 – Hamlet
Year 4 – Twelth Night
Year 6 – The Tempest
Mrs Ellis and Teaching Assistants have created two areas in the school to inspire writing. Take a look inside the shipwreck of the Tempest and the reconstruction of the Globe Theatre:
Years 3, 4 and 5 also took part in a workshop with the actors. Click on our classes at the top of the page to view the fun we had.
We were treated to a fantastic performance by Years 3, 4 and 5 when they delivered both a comical and tear jerking production. They delivered the message that Christmas is not merry for all people; some don’t have families or friends to share the joys or even homes to keep them safe and warm.
Mary and Joseph where only able to find somewhere warm to bring baby Jesus into the world through the kindness of one Inn-Keeper, after many had left them out in the cold. Likewise Kate (played by Ava Year 5) was welcomed into a strangers home for Christmas through the kindness of two young boys.
The children have been introduced to a fabulous book called Journey by Aaron Becker. The book contains only pictures which has sparked some fabulous discussion throughout the whole school. Red doors of all different sizes started to appear in various places around the school, along with some other red objects such as a boat and a hot air balloon!
We arrived back at school after the October half term holidays to find that a mysterious looking egg had been found on our school field. Each class went out to investigate the egg then were invited to write about their discoveries.
