What is the Foundation Stage?

The Early Years Foundation Stage  (EYFS) is the period from birth to 5 years.

During this time children develop at an amazing rate and learn many of the skills which lay firm foundations for life.

Children join our nursery class (or Foundation 1) at age three years, having come from a range of settings including private nursery, childminder, playgroup or having been at home with family. They can then continue at St Albert’s in the Reception class which is still a part of the Foundation Stage. They can transfer to the Reception Class (or Foundation 2) in the September of the academic year when they become five.
