Welcome to Year 2
Class Teacher: Miss Barker
Teaching Assistant: Miss Tynan and Mrs Westhead
Please read school risk assessment before accessing the Zoom meeting. It is a general risk assessment written for the purpose of Year 6 Zoom meetings, however, it details our school expectations around attending these online meetings. There are more specific notes at the end, regarding our Zoom meeting (New to Year 2 Transition meeting) tomorrow (Tuesday 7th July at 11am). Looking forward to seeing you there! Miss Barker
Please find some helpful guidance to support your child with their home learning as of next week. Resources will be added to the website and our ‘Class Dojo’ site regularly to support you and give you suggested activities. Please do not hesitate to contact me through ‘Class Dojo’ if you have any questions. Miss Barker
National Writing Day – 24th June 2020
This is an annual celebration of writing designed to inspire people across the UK to write.
The message is simple: everyone has a story to tell and sharing it can be a source of great pleasure and power.
The aim is to inspire creative writing on a grand scale. We believe young people are more inclined to write creatively if they see adults around them doing so and writing can benefit people of all ages.
This National Writing Day we’re launching the #247challenge. The challenge is intended as a moment of unity, of freedom and most importantly of fun, where students, teachers and anyone who wants to be involved can enjoy writing together and take a moment to express themselves.
How to do the #247 challenge:
1. Write a 24-word story on a piece of paper (or record on video) starting with ‘One day…’
2. Take a photo of your story or take a photo of yourself with your writing
3. Send the video, or photograph to your teacher on your class platform
This link has videos of famous authors talking about National Writing Day
Perhaps you could write a story about the Rainforest, or your experiences over the last couple of months, or your perfect day – whatever inspires you to pick up a pen and get writing today!
